    The installer will check if the system time/date is after installation ISO creation date. And will warn user about wrong system clock otherwise. There will be a .buildstamp file in the ISO root for this purpose.

    This package is a lie. The build Bot got confused and built it. More info in issue replies.

Epilogue

There has been discussions and debates on the two main GUI Toolkits currently used for Qubes OS GUI tools & widgets (i.e. PyGTK and PyQt). Based on the outcome and conclusion of those discussions, it appears that PyQt is the currently preferred toolkit for most new GUI tools & widgets. And if anyone is considering a 3rd option (wxWidgets, tkinter, …), it would be highly appreciated if you would reconsider.

Just to update that there won’t be a newsletter this week. Since we only had just one new change last week i.e. meta-packages v4.3.4 (r4.3)

There has been an issue with upstream pylint (software to use to check Python code styling). And there might had been some issues with CI infrastructure.

Since I am not a part of the core team, I can not talk on their behalf. But I can say the major obstacle is Debain 13 & Whonix 18 templates. And the Whonix template is the most significant pending part.

For sure we will have an release 3 candidate. Which should hopefully come with the mentioned templates.

Yes, that’s the plan. The schedule is a bit tight for this, but I hope it will be possible. At this point, it’s very likely we’ll have rc4 too, so another 5 weeks.

I think I might do a clean install of QubesOS v4.3-rc3 if it comes with
debian-13 and whonix-18 templates. That’s the only thing holding me
back from upgrading to the newer QubesOS RC-releases. Once these two
templates come in, any other release candidates will be updates on top
of the QubesOS v4.3-stack, so there shouldn’t be breakage. But, without
debian-13 and whonix-18 templates, I simply have no need to upgrade yet.

Just to clarify: “The schedule is a bit tight” I mean we are delaying rc3 until we have Whonix 18 testing template (there is some issue with the build infra, investigating now…).
