Looking for up-to-date experiences: I avoided ThinkPads with discrete GPUs because 6–7 years ago external ports were wired to the dGPU and didn’t work with Qubes/NVIDIA when connecting an external display. Has this improved? Any up to date experiences or any reliable workflows or workarounds to get it working?

It was a kernel (noveau) limitation that time…
recent kenrels working by default in Qubes OS.

Hey @Zrubi so just confirming your saying with respect to external display compatability on modern thinkpads is no reason to look to limit my search to intel graphics only models the dGPU nVidia ones will work now with external display by default?
I can’t confirm that ALL models vith nVidia dGPU will work, I’m afraid.
But I do confirm that on my P52 it is working by default, while ~5 years ago it was struggling with the issues you mentioned.
