Qubes OS installation / boot problem

Hi!

Yesterday I installed Qubes 4.2.2 (R4.2) on my machine. Everything went fine, I could finish the configuration process after the first boot to the installed Qube OS. But after the next reboot I just saw this on my screen:

I waited for 15 minutes but nothing happened so I interrupted this. Am I supposed to wait longer for Qubes to get up on it’s feet?

Please advise, I would like to successfully run Qube. Thanks in advance!

Would you please provide more information on the hardware specification of your system (e.g. Laptop/Desktop model, Graphic Card, …). And if you did anything custom during installation (e.g. multiple operating systems, custom partitioning, …).

Here’s my hardware:

Asus PRIME B760 PLUS

Intel Core i5-13600

Asus Nvidia RTX 4060

D5-5600 Ram

This is the configuration I’ve chosen during install:

The system is a dual boot PC with Ubuntu 22.04 and Windows 11 on it.

Qubes got a “fresh” dedicated SSD for installation.

Could you please try another TTY and see if you could login in text mode. Press the below key combination to see if you can switch to another TTY:

ctrl+alt+f2 to ctrl+alt+f6

Maybe it’s an issue with nouveau driver for your NVIDIA.
You can try to boot with nomodeset kernel command line option. You can add it in your GRUB like this:

Or you can try to reinstall Qubes OS with kernel-latest, there is a separate GRUB menu option for this in the Qubes OS installer:
