Qubes not booting up

Yesterday i installed qubes updates and close off my machine. Today it wont start, when i open qubes it just does nothing not even showing the decryption input for password.
What do i do, i have important data on it can i fix it or do i clone my disk to put it on another machine?

Try a different older kernel at the qubes advanced screen

Could you please elaborate on how to do it? Why was this caused too?
Thank you

After the bios screen (manufacturer name) the xen/qubes screen will appear with a countdown.

Use arrow keys to chose advanced and then enter and then enter again to choose an earlier kernel

It’s just something to try since you said it stopped working after an update. I assume dom0 update was done. I had a similar issue recently

It worked, thanks. Now do you think it was because of the update in dom0? How is this explainable.

Yes. The new kernel has something in it that causes qubes to hang before the password unlock screen.

Going into global config setting and switching the kernel at the bottom to the earlier version might help permanently

I will just wait for a new update and will manually switch it everytime on boot

If the issue persists despite new dom0 updates, you will need to increase the number of saved kernels beyond 3 (or it will get erased)

Just to get some details on the issue, are you using an nvidia GPU? If so, which one?

Nvidia geforce 2060
