I could not find any information regarding this, so why not make an official post.
I am in the process of getting my OS ready to upgrade from Qubes release 4.0 (R4.0) to the latest 4.1.1, I know I am behind the curve.
How important is it to upgrade the template VM’s / dom0 prior to initiating a backup routine and going through the upgrade process (not certain if I want to do fresh install or an in-place upgrade)?
Furthermore, should I even backup the template VM’s that qubes provides? Or should I exclude those templates, as the upgrade should provide up to date templates?
