Qubes 4.3 - can't attach USB in whonix WS 18

Hello,

Since upgrading to 4.3 / Whonix 18 I can’t attach USB to Whonix 18. It does seem to thankfully work in Fedora 42, however attaching to Whonix 18 I get the error when I try to open it:

Not authorized to perform this operation.

The device does seem to attach succesfully, I just don’t have permissions to open it for some reason.

I don’t use whonix appVM for mounting USB but anything sudo related can no longer be run by user in whonix 18.

Run as root and try again. Or cli mount it to a folder in home instead of /mnt etc

What is the best option to transfer files between Whonix 18 and VMs?

  1. QVM-COPY/MOVE (then use USB Storage in the VM)

  2. USB Storage in Whonix

Unspecific to Qubes-Whonix. Same as for Qubes.
