I found some user posts about Qubes working on Ryzen AI 9, but I wasn’t so lucky.
Detailed spec:
PC Specialist Lafite Series 14 inches
AMD Ryzen™ AI 9 HX370 12 Core Processor
64GB 5600MHz DDR5 (2 x 32GB)
Integrated AMD® Radeon™ 890M
2TB SSD Gen4
The issue: (Xen didn’t start?)
At the end of install process (first boot), when in “Setup up default kernel” (yes, exactly written like that) I get a pop-up:
[‘/usr/bin/qubes-prefs’, ‘default-kernel’, ‘6.12.59-1.fc41’] failed:
stdout: “”
stderr: “qubes-prefs: error: Failed to connect to qubesd service: [Errno 2] No such file or directory”
Can boot and decrypt disc, but splash screen to enter password is frozen
Kernel boot console, can login, but there is no Qubes Manager, no network, none of the XFCE task bar buttons work, can open terminal:
$ sudo systemctl status qubesd
Qubes OS deamon
Loaded: loaded */usr/lib/systemd/system/qubesd.service; enabled; preset: enabled)
Drop-in: /usr/lib/systemd/system/service.d
Active: failed (Result: exit-code) …
Invocation: …
Process: 3828 ExecStart=/usr/bin/qubesd (code=exited, status=1/FAILURE)
dom0 systemd[1]: Failed to start qubesd.service - Qubes OS deamon
$ xl info
xencall: error: Could not obtain handler on privileged command interface: No such file or directory
cannot init xl context
Kernel version: 6.12.59-1
Tried to install 6.18.4-fc41, but didn’t help (though I think I didn’t do it properly)
Any help or my laptop is not for Qubes? ![]()
