Qubes 4.1 hangs on startup (Failed to start LVM event activation)

I updated dom0 yesterday after a month away from my laptop. After shutting down I can’t get my computer to start again, it always hangs after seemingly fully loading Qubes (loading bar at 100%).
I’ve tried the different kernels available in the advanced startup without any change to this issue.
Pressing esc for text startup shows LVM might have crashed after the update.
The log reads:

[FAILED] Failed to start LVM event activation on device 253:0.
See ‘systemctl status lvm2-pvscan@253:0.service’ for details.

After that there are a couple of more log lines before the computer freezes.

Any suggestions on what to try or is it time to reinstall Qubes?

After installing Qubes 4.1.1 from scratch I noticed that creating a USB qube causes the computer to hang while starting Qubes, for two reasons:

  1. If the HDMI cable is connected then you need to disconnect it and restart.
  2. If you are using certain kernels such as 5.15 then it’s not possible to start Qubes.

2 could be the reason that I got stuck at startup after my update from 4.1.
