PSA: Sucessful install on LGA 1700 /Intel 14400 w/Samsung 49" Monitor

Just as a quick note, I upgraded a 10y old PC recently with a new

  • Motherboard: MSI PRO B760M-P DDR4
  • CPU: INTEL 14400

It is an LGA 1700 setup with 32GB of DDR4 RAM (had that left from the old build), integrated Intel graphics, so no extra graphics card.

The installation went smooth as silk and completed the first time around. I run Qubes on a Dell XPS 15 Laptop already and knew what I was looking for and there were zero roadblocks, once I had deactivated secure boot (which of course I first forgot).

Qubes version is 4.2.4 with Fedora 41 and Debian 12.

What impressed me was native support for my Samsung 49" Monitor (via Display Port) PLUS an additional ASUS 27" Monitor (via HDMI), which combined results in an absolutely humongous amount of pixel real estate (i.e. 3x 27" Monitor equivalent), capable of running between 5-6 virtual machines side by side, depending on what you are doing.

I did no further testing so far, I want to test:

  • adding NVDIA graphics card
  • Getting USB Audio working
  • Installing Windows 10 LTSC with acceptable performance
  • Improving video (YT etc) performance to acceptable levels
  • etc, just making it a good alround daily driver
