I am having the same issue. The sys-whonix control panel up the right hand side on the xfce bar is having a padlock with “X” sign (I guess that means it is disconnected from Tor network). However, when I click on that icon > sys-whonix > “Tor control panel” button, the opened window restarts the Tor connection and it says, “Tor status: Connected to the Tor network!”, all the while, the padlock icon is still with the “X” sign.
