My tests with code editors (zed, pycharm) show that whonix-workstation performs significantly worse than qubes-vm on Debian. What could be the reason?
Could you share not about the tests? What are you testing, what is your benchmark procedure to make the tests repeatable?
From my knowledge, whomix should not perform bad compared to Debian. Do you have the same amount of vcpu and memory in both?

Code editors like Zed in whonix-workstation work with a noticeable lag. The difference is noticeable compared to the Debian 13 vm. Both have the same vCPU and RAM settings. According to htop, whonix uses about 20 percent more CPU. Also concerning is that the code editors in whonix look worse, a bit crooked.
