Panels seems to crach when the session is locked for a while

Hello,

I moved my Dell Laptop (precision 7670) to Qubes a few months ago, and really like it.

Unfortunately suspending / hibernating the device does not work but, I can live without it. For this reason, I often leave the Laptop powered on overnight, or half a day without interaction, just with the session locked. My hibernation/suspend settings are set to “Never”.

My issue:

Frequently, when I unlock the session after a long period of inactivity (few hours), I find the whole dom0 panels (I use 2 panels) like “restarting”. Panels seems to restart from scratch with each applets slowly appearing one by one, then my previously open windows reappear one by one, but in the current workspace, while they were properly organized in multiple workspaces before I lock the session. This last point seems to confirm that my whole XFCE seems to restart .

I would like to investigate more but since I’m new to QubesOS, I’m not sure to know where to start looking at. Is it a behaviors you already heard of ?

Thank you very much.
(Version 4.3.0 fully up to date.)

It just happened again. This time I could catch the following in dmesg

[ 8071.830832] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: gsp: mmu fault queued
[ 8071.831468] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: gsp: rc engn:00000001 chid:16 type:31 scope:1 part:233
[ 8071.831476] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: fifo:c00000:0002:0010:[Xorg[6794]] errored - disabling channel
[ 8071.831480] nouveau 0000:01:00.0: Xorg[6794]: channel 16 killed!

Could it be related to a driver issue ? Would this Xorg[6794]: channel 16 killed! the root cause of my session reloading ?

Regards,
