After a clean install of R4.3.0, which has been working well for some time now, one vm has refused to update for about the last week. The vm is an existing template vm and during the update process stalls with the error message exception Cammand ‘cat > /run/qubes-update/agent.tar.gz’ returned non-zero exit status 1. After trying to update for a few days, I set qubes to use the latest available kernel, but no change in the update process unfortunately. All other updateable vm’s are updating fine.

I’m stumped. Couldn’t fix the original problem, so I have been trying to start afresh. I have made a named disposable qube for the Brother printer. I have added printer settings, etc to the Applications page. But adding cups to the Services page doesn’t seem to be possible. In the Services page, clicking on the +Add button and then in the Select a service box doesn’t give any options such as cups. What am I missing please? By the way, I noticed, that this vm is based on the default-dvm (current). So I went into the settings for default-dvm, which is based on debian-13-xfce and added cups to the default-dvm. But this doesn’t seem to have had any effect.
Use the custom option as described here:
If the problem persists, I think it is better to open a new topic.
Thanks parulin! That did it. It didn’t seem intuitive to go back to the Add button again from the Custom item. I missed that. cheers
