Multiple XFCE profiles / users?

Trying to debug a different problem (laptop keeps waking from sleep) I wondered if my rather heavily instrumented XFCE panels could be part of the problem.

If I want to have say, a usual and a minimal/default XFCE set up, and to choose between them on start, would I just create a second user in dom0? I’m aware Qubes is really single user, just looking for a convenient way to choose different profiles. Is there a better way?

Maybe before logging in as user in XFCE you can switch to another TTY using Ctrl+Alt+F2, login there and switch the profile files?
Like having the different .config1, .config2 etc directories and mount --bind them over .config directory before you login in XFCE.

Yes, that’s a much better idea! Thank you.
