MSI Pro Z790-P WiFi DDR5 with Raptor Lake 13900K

Everything seems to be working, I’ve not noticed any difference between the z690 and z790.

Maybe I’m not reading the report correctly, but I don’t think the memory is running at the max speed for DDR5.

The v0.9.0 release of Dasharo does seem to have some bugs, but the system is stable.

The IME HAP disable doesn’t seem to work.
Shutdown sometimes reboots the system.

The Dasharo devs help me solve the IME issue, the problem isn’t with Dasharo it’s MSI who has started shipping the motherboard with the IFD region locked.

Using the MSI FlashBIOS button on the motherboard to do the initial flash of the Dasharo firmware solves the issue.

Thank you @renehoj for your HCL report, which is online now!

Is it absolutely necessary to use this dasharo bios? Will qubes run correctly without it? If at all possible I’d like to not modify the motherboard (so I can return it if it doesn’t work). I am building out a new machine, and this will be my third MB.

You don’t have to use Dasharo, the MSI firmware works just as well. I’ve used both, and both worked equally well.

With Dasharo you get the benefit of open firmware, and you can run Heads. With the MSI firmware, you get a ton of performance tweaking options, you can run the memory with XMP settings, you can undervolt and/or overclock the CPU, etc.

Thanks very much for the quick reply! That’s a relief to hear … I’ve had a bit of a touchy time getting the product running, but I am very enthusiastic to use it.

My next attempt will be using the Z790P and a core i9 14900K, which were pulled from the HCL (thanks for your entry there!)

this machine has the advantage of two displays, and a PS/2 KB/mouse port

Oddly enough, it runs flawlessly on my older machine, a core i7 on a gigabyte Z370 AORUS Gaming 3 firmware F5, and a core i7 8700K and 32GB DDR4 RAM. And by flawlessly I mean flawlessly … the install went perfectly smooth. I have a USB keyboard and mouse, and all I have to do is grant permission to use the mouse at startup.
