Mouse is laggy in standalone VM

A new install of latest Qubes on a laptop with discrete gpu.

Qubes itself and AppVMs work fine. But I installed a standalone Debian, and the mouse is laggy. I adjusted display resolution and mouse speed in Debian. I also allowed full screen I’m Qubes settings. They don’t help much.

Where to look?

  • Try another kernel for that standalone qube
  • add same vcpu’s and remove from sys or another qubes that need less CPU time
  • change desktop environment, to less graphic intensive

Cannot boot from other kernels. Added a lot of ram and cpu no luck.

Actually, now, when I boot, I see the normal login page but after password is entered, I see a black screen. Looks like needs to be somehow reset after playing with resolution.

How many cores you have on physical CPU? how many vcpu you set to standalone qube?
Which desktop environment you use? gnome?

As basic setup for debian standalone qube, try to run xfce based debian, 4GB RAM and 2 vCPU with provided by qube kernel.
