I booted into the hard drive that Qubes was installed and I got the error message “Missing operating system.” This seems to come out of nowhere. What is the cause of this? The hard drive is a fresh 860 EVO ssd. Not sure what is going on here.
Somebody got frustrated and did some errasing through some hardware flaw. I used to get this often (about every 3 month) but 2-3 years ago. You have to rework the BIOS (upgrade, downgrade, coreboot, custom etc…)
I forgot this part! As a temporary band aid you can vacate SATA 0 and install Qubes on 2 SSD (Anaconda will guide you) on SATA 2 and 3 or 1 and 3 if you have those options. The second SSD can be a less performant one (junk compared to Samsung Evo and a lot smaller).
I downgraded my Lenovo p50 bios to 1.6 and upgraded it to 1.63. Still getting this error.
