hey there people,
I have a very odd situation, or at least odd for me, hope you have some clue…
so I have upgraded to R4.2 from R4.1 recently, and I have problems installing new templates… I’m trying fedora-40 and fedora-41
so what’s very strange is that mostly I get a “signatures not ok” error, when I try to install with sudo qubes-dom0-update, so I tried to download only with qvm-template to see what I get
what I tried today looks okay, did it few times, rpm -K verifies it ok, but what I realized, when I rebooted the os, did the same verification it failed on the same template rpm, and I also see the sha256 checksum is different (after a reboot only)… owned by my desktop user
similar happened when sudo qubes-dom0-update downloaded the template, started installing, then the os just rebooted during installation, and after the reboot, I look at the template rpm at /root/.cache/qvm-template do the rpm -K and sha256sum and its wrong
anyone experiences similar, this is very odd, never seen this before, should I worry ?
edit:
I just did 100 sha256sum calculations on the same template rpm and I got 7 different values, then I did the same with sha512 and I got 2 values, 60% 1 sum 40% other sum

edit2:
I still rarely use the system, but more than a year ago
anyway, I had spare 16 gigs of memory, which I added to the existing 16 gigs in the box in the autumn
though the 2 new modules are a bit faster, but the board was able to make all the 4 modules agree on same settings
so I gave it a go a few months ago, and only used it here and there since then
so I removed the new modules, and all the sha hashes are constantly good, as well as rpm -K…
I put them back again and they are calculated wrong
I’ll still keep an eye and make some tests, but looks like this was the problem

thanks all
