Keypress ordering issues

the global clipboard command is Shift+Control+C to copy and Shift+Control+V to paste, in most operating systems ive worked it it really doesnt matter the ordering in which you press the modfier keys. I.e Control then pressing shift achieves the exact same as Shift then Control.

In QubeOS ive noticed that pressing control before pressing shift prevents shift from being detected as a key press, this was discovered when the global clipboard was only occasionally working and then reading my key-presses in a keyboard tester website to confirm my keyboard shift key was actually working as i use a ps2 to usb converter and occasionally see some weird behavior.

While this is only a minor issue in reality, i find it kind of annoying because my natural instinct is to hit control then shift rather than shift then control. Does anyone have any insight into why this may be occurring or a way to “fix” this minor grievance?

I dont have this issue, i always push ctrl first then shift. I use both ps/2 keyboard as well as usb keyboard with ps/2 adaptor. Perhaps your adaptor is bad or not functioning correctly

can’t reproduce. Always pressing CTRL-key first when using global buffer. USB keyboard. (Qubes v.4.2 and v4.3)

Maybe the experts here can help you narrow the problem down?

Not trying to be funny, but do you need a new keyboard?

Long time ago, I had someting similar that I attributed to wear.
Dirt or hair under the keys can do strange things too, so a good clean might help.

Fair question, no its definitely not the keyboard it happens on USB keyboards i tested with as well. Its only happening on Qubes so i was just curios if anyone else has had this issue.

after resetting my windows manager keybindings the issue has completely gone away, so something i did in the keybindings must have caused this.
