Kernel panic on boot with 6.15+ kernels

Qubes 4.2
Kernels 6.15.10 and 6.17.9 panic immediately on boot (dead Tux, hard reboot required). No error output. Don’t have a console cable.

Kernels 6.12.59 and 6.12.54 boot fine.

Do you have the possibility of testing this out on R4.3?

Ah, not really, this is a production box. I tried to install 4.3 when it was a clean install and ran into so many issues I made a thread here and gave up. Won’t have time this year to re-do that unfortunately, although I did eventually get a 4.3 laptop running (different hardware) which functions as a restore target for my backups.

Can you try and edit the parameters for the boot process by hitting e when you see the GRUB menu and:

  1. remove quiet from the kernel parameters
  2. replace console=none with console=vga vga=,keep loglvl=all guest_loglvl=all noreboot=1 earlyprintk=xen as options to Xen

?

The boot process will be slooow - but might provide a bit of debug information to look at.
