Issues with XFCE lockscreen

Since about a month, I’m having issues with Xscreenlocker.

  1. When locked, the unlock ‘window’ will appear until it’s timed out, but then after about 10-20 seconds it will appear again until timed out, repeating endlessly.
  2. Automatic lockscreen after X minutes does not work.
So, it seems there is mouse/keyboard input detected at certain intervals which prevent automatic locking and which causes the unlock ‘window’ to appear again and and when manually locked.

I don’t know exactly when it started, but around that time I had installed dom0 updates(including kernel), but also a BIOS update. I’ve tried booting with an older kernel but it does not help.
Since then dom0 received multiple updates but that didn’t fix the issue.
Has anyone else experienced this issue?
Machine is a Thinkpad L14 gen 3 AMD.
@zaz Do you have this issue on your L14? I’m on BIOS 1.31 btw.

No. I use i3lock and have no issues. Are you using any script with xdotool to generate keypresses? Any possibility that you have a hardware issue, such as an intermittently pressing Ctrl key? (you could test it by running xev, not touching the computer, and seeing if output keeps coming out)

Or you could debug the issue by trying a different screen locker.

Do you recall activating “presentation mode” or something like that in XFCE?

Lol! I do not recall activating it but it was indeed turned on. Maybe accidentally activated it with a keyboard shortcut or something.
To my surprise, turning off the presentation mode also fixed issue #1.
Thinking too complex when it was actually a simple solution
