Is it normal that sys-whonix uses for connection circuit consisting of bridge and THREE nodes?

I always thought that circuits consisting of four nodes (in my case first node is bridge) are defective and never used for connections but today I checked my onion circuits and saw that tor uses circuit consisting of bridge and three nodes. This circuit was used to connect to the onion site and that connection was successful. I never seen such thing before. It should be noted that it seems for clearnet sites it uses normal circuits with bridge and two nodes. But I don’t remember ever seeing in Tails or other OSes circuits consisting of four nodes that would be used for connection. Is it Qubes/Whonix specific or maybe for onion sites it makes exceptions and four nodes in this case is normal? But I stress that I’ve never seen anything like this before.
