Is it dangerous to use qubes without sys-usb?

I am running qubes 4.1 and using keyboard on external hub .

sys-usb inactive by default and it integrated with sys-net ( sys-net and sys-usb)

What does it mean to combine Them ?

What if I used unsafe flash drive it would compromise my sys-net?

I think you answered your own question. A USB flash drive that you can’t trust (borrowed from a friend) technically can be a risk sure. Paranoid people will freak out at just the thought.

Honestly, it boils down to how well you trust what you have. It’s your comfort level. Also, is it a new Qubes install? Anything critical on it? Would you lose anything if you had to wipe that machine? If not, then don’t let paranoia ruin the fun of learning a new OS. You can always wipe it clean again later. Some people will give me crap here, but whatever, I’m not a reporter with top secret info, or a business exec with millions in intellectual property. If you have nothing to hide, then it’s more of a comfort level.
