Remarks

After each attempt at installing Qubes the “Templates Configuration” menu had all of it’s options greyed out.
After reinstalling the OS a number of times with both 4.2.4 and 4.3.0 rc1 I gave up on getting this menu to work and went ahead with the install using 4.2.4.

Once the setup was finished and I was logged in there were no template qubes or service qubes installed, I resolved this by mounting my install USB and installing the Fedora template from the Packages folder.

Since the manual template installation I have had no issues and I can confirm the following features are working:

  • Networking using the built-in network card with Network Manager (Using a static IP and custom dns)
  • GPU passthrough to a Fedora 21 standalone qube
  • Single-monitor video via the iGPU
  • Audio, using both the built-in soundcard and a USB DAC
  • SATA HDD as the boot device
  • General browsing with firefox

Notes:

  • There’s no PS/2 port so a USB keyboard must be used
  • Video playback in firefox stutters slightly

Hardware:

  • CPU: Intel i9-9900k
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte Aorus Ultra
  • RAM: 4x 32gb DDR4 Corsair Vengeance LPX
  • Dedicated GPU 1: Nvidia RTX 2070 Super
  • Dedicated GPU 2: Nvidia RTX 3060

After further testing I’ve discovered that the installation issues were caused by a faulty USB stick, and after buying a new one I was able to install it with no issues.

All of previously confirmed features still work, and I can now confirm that an M.2 SSD can be used as a boot device for this configuration.
