I’m planning to install Qubes OS on a laptop that features Intel Graphics (Iris Xe), and I wanted to get some clarity on its compatibility. I know that Intel Graphics generally works well for most operating systems, but I’m curious about how it performs specifically under Qubes OS, especially when running multiple virtual machines (VMs).

I have a few questions regarding this:

  1. Driver support – Does Qubes OS provide native support for Intel Graphics (Iris Xe), or do I need to install any additional drivers or tweak the system?
  2. Performance – How well does Intel Graphics handle graphical tasks in Qubes OS when using multiple VMs?
  3. Known issues – Are there any known compatibility issues with Intel Graphics (Iris Xe) in Qubes OS, such as display problems, sluggish performance, or crashes?

Just realize it only handles dom0 graphics, everything else in qubes is CPU based.

Check the HCL for ‘iris’. Mostly positive notes, just rarely suspend works. Those are thinkpads
