i’m having a hard time since last year, before these new updates with whonix and fedora i could install any apps on there , specifically from flatpak repository and flathub in the terminal… but now since i had to download qubes 4.2.2 with these new updates to whonix-17 and fedora 41 i can’t install no apps in terminal…i thought it was because of me coming from windows 11 but that’s not it…
i’ll post pics for help but i’m asking for any body who have discord, telegram ,zoom anything for 1 on 1 session to see me type in the terminal and watch my errors !!! been trying for 5 days now with big headaches no sleep. i disabled secure boot, enabled v.t and i/o virtualization, have achi in the bios settings …idk what’s left to do.
Here are the pictures of several errors i been getting. from in the work terminal which is on whonix workstation 17 , to my personal qubes appvm which runs off of fedora-41 …
Edit: misread
^^ the second picture i just typed your command the sudo dnf install flatpak, okay it said already install ,but once i go to install an app or try to install the flatpak repository like flatpak remote-add --user -if-not-exists that command i get the error of /var/lib/flatpak whats in the other pictures
Im not familiar with flatpak but suggest you do the install in a standalone. Appvm will not have persistence in /var so, if you get it working, you’ll lose progress when you restart the qube
No need to use a standalone for flatpaks.
@Cosmic3ye please don’t post your issue on multiple topics. Let’s focus on this one.
I provided a link to a how-to use text instead of a screenshot on another topic. Could you be specific: are there only flatpaks involved? What steps have you followed to reinstall flatpaks? If that’s not already the case, I suggest you follow some guides like @solene’s ones.
your right sorry , im really pissed at these new systems and security fedora and whonix is implimenting in the systems, everything was easy to install last year.
no i can’t install nothing , no apps !! not just flatpak, it’s this new fedora 41 and whonix 17 systems last year it was fine and no complaints from me or nobody … now everytime i read these solutions on solene’s i get new errors…
here’s what i’m getting now .im lost and confused …and i just wanna downgrade to fedora 40 and whonix 16 heck whonix 1 if this stop these silly bugs and upgrades …
In a fedora 38 xfce similar thread you’ve got answered. It worked there so do as you’ve been told.
But you don’t do what you was told.
Hint: use --user option with flatpak
flatpak remote-add --if-not-exists flathub https://dl.flathub.org/repo/flathub.flatpakrepo
Works for me!
It’s special case.
It want to install in appVM without internet and have problem with that appVM even further. Now discussion is in “fedora 42” tagged thread.
Leave this thread alone.
This thread is for closure - it won’t go anywhere if we answer this same question from same user in bazillion threads.
