Remarks

Install and first reboot post install setup completed without any issue.

No problems with WiFi, sound, streaming video.

Following going into suspend machine would not wake up. Power light lit, fan spun but display never came back on. F key lights on F5 and F8 lit and never switched off. Seems an indicator of a boot problem. Hard reboot required.

This is a severe regression from the G5 (now sadly out of support) which had very good battery life with Qubes in general and when suspended, (considering battery age).

cat /sys/power/mem_sleep
[s2idle] deep

There is no obvious bios option referring to windows vs linux suspend modes. Though there are a plethora of poorly labelled options referring to power.

Though this is clearly not Qubes fault per

qvm-features dom0 suspend-s0ix 1 allows the laptop to wake back up, however the level of suspend reached seems somewhat limited. If fans are running when suspend is called they will continue running until the laptop decides to, despite screen switching off, power button light moving to flashing / keyboard backlight switching off etc. Power drain seems roughly 4% in an hour.

Are PRs welcome to Suspend/resume troubleshooting — Qubes OS Documentation ? I spent a fair amount of time fiddling with Bios settings before finding Marek’s comment on 6411

Having spent a bit more time with this I’m wondering if the undocumented feature is now broken per

Looking at /sys/kernel/debug/pmc_core/substate_requirements it is completely blank and substate_residencies shows no time on either S0i2.0 or S0i3.0 after suspend and “wake”
