I’m trying to delete a template but get the error message This qube cannot be removed. It is used as: - template for qube default-mgmt-dvm If you want to remove this qube, you should remove or change settings of each qube or setting that uses it
. I’ve tried entering the command qvm-prefs default-mgmt-dvm fedora-41
in dom0 but it is not recognized. Entering qvm-ls
does confirm that fedora-41 template is installed. How can I change the default-mgmt-dvm template? Is there a GUI way to achieve this?

I face the same issue.
I’m afraid of trying to modify its template because it’s not intended for user interaction and is hidden from the Qube Manager by default. And i not fully understand its purpose.
It seems that the default-mgmt-dvm has networking disabled (please correct me if i’m wrong), so i might not be a direct security concern.
With a clean install, default-mgmt-dvm should use the latest fedora template. (not on my to do list for now if it’s not a security issue^^)

This is an internal qube that is used for everything salt-related and is hidden by default.
There are 3 ways to change it:
- Using the
Qubes Template Switcher
- Enabling
Show internal qubes
inQubes Manager
in theView
top menu and by opening the settings for this qube - Using
qvm-prefs default-mgmt-dvm template <template name>
in a dom0 terminal
