How can I install Dasharo firmware?

Hey renehoj, three question to you if you don’t mind:

  1. What kind of CPU is that, I’m guessing it’s the 14900?
  2. Can you please make a detailed guide on how to install/use Dasharo on desktop CPU?
  3. What GPU are you using and how, please?

The CPU is a 13900K

The MSI motherboards have a USB port marked as Flash BIOS, and next to it there is a button marked Flash BIOS Button.

You take the Dasharo ROM file, rename to MSI.ROM, and copy the file to a Windows formatted USB drive. Insert the USB drive into the USB port, and push the button, and the motherboard will turn on and flash the firmware.

The GPU is a 4060, and I only use for AI work loads. The Qubes OS GPU pass-through/gaming guide explains how to do get it working, only using for CUDA compute makes it even easier, it doesn’t require any display to be connected.

Moderation note

Hi @markus_p! Welcome to the forum!

I moved your question to its own topic, because the original one is meant for people to share their desktop screenshots and config.

That being said, since this question is not about Qubes OS, it is technically off-topic in the forum, except in the All around Qubes category, to which you’ll get access after contributing for some time in the other (on-topic) categories of the forum.

You got lucky, though, and @renehoj replied to your question blazing fast  so I made this move to allow you to see the answer, and I’ll close this topic soon in order to wrap it up.

On a personal note: I know that the on-topic / off-topic rules may feel a bit annoying sometimes, but overall the forum is better because everyone looking for Qubes OS information are able to find it, so I’m sure you’ll understand. :slightly_smiling_face:
