Hello everyone
I accidentally searched online using a disposable template (DVM). I would like to create a new disposable template (DVM). However, I don’t know how, is it possible to create a new disposable template (DVM)? Also, connecting a regular template with the default disposable will result in a disposable type template, but does this method reflect the negative effects of the default disposable (an internet search using the default disposable)?
I’m a perfect amateur when it comes to disposable templates. Please give me some advice
I haven’t used it, but I believe you can revert these changes with: qvm-volume revert <disposable-template>:private <revision>
It worked well in Johnboy’s way. thank you. Thank you very much for ephile too. The method that ephile presented seems to be useful too.
I just noticed that the default DVM is also used as a template for sys-firewall and sys-net. I tried, but I can’t change it. Will this have any negative effects?
IINM, to change the template an AppVM is based on, that AppVM needs to be shut down.
My explanation was lacking. I’m looking for ways to eliminate the negative effects of default dvms (I searched online using default dvms), or to delete the default DVM. However, the former does not know how to do that, and the latter cannot do so as the default DVM cannot be removed from the default dvm from SYS-Firewall and Sys-Net. To solve the former method, will the negative effect be eliminated if you remove the fedora template from the default dvm using your method and install a new fedora template as a template in the default DVM? Also, as a solution to the latter method, is it possible to generate the default DVM as the way Johnboy offered me, and install it on SYS-Firewall and Sys-Net instead of the original default DVM?
Don’t confuse those four types of qubes:
- template qube (i.e. fedora-41-xfce)
- application qube (i.e. personal)
- disposable template qube (i.e. default-dvm) all disposable templates are also application qubes
- disposable qube (i.e. sys-net in your situation, or disp1234)
Take a look at the docs to understand what could be wrong with the accident mentioned in your original post. Nothing should concern the template qube:
Moreover, to remove the default disposable template, you need to follow these steps:
- create a new disposable template qube
- change the default disposable template qube in Qubes Global Config tool
- change the disposable template qube of any disposable qube that could use it
- delete the first disposable template qube
Thank you for your answer. After all, we need to erase the disposable itself. Understood, I’ll try to do that.
