Remarks

I have chosen the MediaTek 7921 Wireless LAN adapter during customization. (The other option is Realtek 8852BE.)

Only soldered 8 GB RAM is implemented. I will add a discrete RAM some day.

The 4.1.0 installer does not display the wizard, probably due to the graphic driver. The 4.1.1 installer works.

  • Installation: Hanged at network configuration during the post-installation wizard (Manual power-cycling let the wizard finished.)
  • Graphics: Internal monitor tested and worked
  • Networking: Wireless LAN tested and worked
  • Audio: YouTube with Firefox tested and worked
  • Suspend: Stuck with blank screen, with or without the mem_sleep_default=deep kernel option

Feel free to ask me anything!

It does not occur when I reinstalled Qubes from scratch. Never mind.

Thank you @omasanori for your HCL report. Sorry it took so long, but it is now listed in the HCL.

As Qubes OS 4.2 has been released, I’d submit a new report. BIOS was updated and some hardware was replaced since I had submitted the previous report.

  • Installation: No issues.
  • Graphics: Internal monitor and external monitor via HDMI tested and worked
  • Networking: WLAN tested and worked
  • Audio: YouTube with Firefox tested and worked
  • Suspend: tested and worked with the default settings

While I am unsure if the BIOS update or Qubes OS update or replaced hardware causes it, I am glad to see the system resumes from suspended state. Also, I am totally satisfied with the UI changes in 4.2. Thank you for continuing excellent work!

@omasanori Can you tell if mouse and keyboard are PS/2?
What is performance level of this laptop?

@Paxo Yes, they are recognized as PS/2 devices, not USB ones.

I am unsure what is the performance level you wanted to know (I had searched the web and found some articles on safety measurement standard and some on human management things, though…) but in general it performs well with 2 or 3 Firefox in different qubes with tens of tabs on each. As you may know, web browser is one of the heaviest desktop application today, so if you work on text terminals it will work very well with more windows and qubes.

On the other hand, I am not so happy with its short battery life with Qubes OS (~1.5h to 2h from full) compared to that with Fedora or Ubuntu (3h to 4h, it depends on workloads though, of course), but it is understandable as Xen probably is not fine-tuned to laptop use cases.
