First of all, I really like the Dell XPS 9520 for QubesOS. Out of the box most of it is working fine. A nice thing about the 9520 is it’s modern 12th gen CPU, with a decent batterylife and performance.
As with all QubesOS notebooks, 32Gb memory is recommended.
Remarks
- The fingerprint reader isn’t working, but I didn’t look into that. I guess easy fix.
- S3 Sleep isn’t working as with many QubesOS laptops.
- I haven’t tested the webcam, but I suppose it will work
- The audio subwoofers are not working, but the high-tone speakers are working fine. So the sound isn’t great. I’m still working on that issue to get it working. This is a general Linux issue, not Qubes specific.
Usefull post for setting up E and P-cores with QubesOS for better performance:
