I just learned that about a decade ago the NSA backdoored a random number generator in order to crack RSA.
A hardware random number generator (HRNG) is a hardware device that produces random numbers using noise from physical processes (e.g., electronic noise, thermal noise, etc.).
When I search the forum I do not get many results for the phrases “hardware random number generator” or “HRNG”.
Are there any Qubes-supported and Qubes-approved hardware random number generators that I can purchase online, that are supported by dom0 and that can protect me against this sort of attack vector?
Qubes needs a sys-random. Qubes-OS needs a qube that generates random numbers for the other qubes. And dom0 has to keep a record of the “random” numbers that sys-random generates and dom0 has to alert the end-user if the distribution of these “random” numbers is suspicious (non-random).
