Hanging on Shutdown | Thinkpad P50

Hello Folks - I just installed Qubes on a new (to me) P50 with the i7-6820 and 64gb ram.

So far, everything works smooth except when I shut down the machine.

On shutdown, the screen goes blank, but the backlight keyboard stays powered and it doens’t appear as if the system fully shutdown. A short press of the power button does nothing.

A long press of the power button does a forced power-down on the machine and then a short press will restart the machine.

Any ideas on why my machine is no longer fully shutting down?

Cheers!

Same here with my P50.
Been dealing with this for a while and have to forcibly power it down every time the screen goes blank.

Would like to see if there’s a fix, or at least an explanation, for this.

Switching from TPM 2.0 to 1.2 seems to solve the problem.

According to the following article, the cause is due to a combination of IOMMU and TPM2.0 and seems not Qubes-specific.
