Using photoshop in windows qube will show just a cube icon in my taskbar instead of photoshop logo… or when I launch a terminal in some linux qube I also don’t get an icon of my terminal and just a cube icon…
What’s the template of this qube?
What terminal app do you use in it (gnome-terminal/xfce4-terminal/xterm)?
I tried on debian mini with xterm…
Xterm has some issue with icons, no idea why:
Bit of an old thread, bit I think it’s better to keep this going instead of starting a new one.
I recently installed both Obsidian and Zed editor following the official documentation guidelines for these tools (Obsidian as an AppImage in a single AppVM, Zed as precompiled binary in the default TemplateVM.
Both .desktop
files use custom paths for the Icon=
entry.
For zed, I placed it in /opt/zed.app/share/icons/hicolor/512x512/apps/zed.png
. The icon for Obsidian is placed in /home/user/.local/share/applications/obsidian.png
.
Both icons seem to be picked up by the application launcher. The entries in the Qubes menu show the correct icons. However, the taskbar icons for both applications show the generic Qube, just as described by @theo_wreck.
Does the taskbar not use the icons referenced in the Desktop files? Do I need to place them in another location?
In the past, I had icons placed in /usr/share/icons/
, which seems to be the default location and I think that worked (althoug it was an older Qubes version, so things could have changed). However, this wouldn’t work with an AppImage installed in a single AppVM, unless I would place the icon file in the template.
