Somebody replied here that they had QubesOS installed on their FW 12. So I guess it must be compatible
Did you uses Core 7 350 mainboad, or others?
i dont know how to check it
does it work for you? (as in not frustrating to use like painfully slow and bugs)
I do not owned Framework Laptop 12. Do you ever open a laptops before and see inside the mainboards?
I have the Framework 12 with the i5-1334U (Intel 13th generation), and it is working fine.
Power consumption during suspend is an issue, and battery life in general sucks if you want it to be reasonably fast. You can set power-saving to the max to exchange speed for battery life, and it is still usable (although it requires a bit more patience).
All the hardware works, as far as I can tell (touchscreen, stylus, camera, audio), and it can even do SR-IOV (with an additional kernel module) to share the iGPU with more than one qube. The iGPU performance is nothing out of the ordinary, but is still much better than pure software rendering.
I noticed it tends to get pretty hot when processing (ie heavy tasks will get it over 90 C).
maybe i installed it wrong
i installed it fine on system 76 but the power and heat were an issue (just browsing the web)
also is 16gb ram good enough? (i cant afford any more)
disk encryption is on
trying to reinstall because i might have installed wrong but forgot my password
i dont have anything i want to keep on it
its framework 12 (2025) with 16gb ddr5 ram
If you don’t need you don’t need to get back in, and just want to re-install, you can just delete the old partitions from the installer.
fresh install on framework 12 (2025) 16gb ram
works good
new updates for the default qubes and install them
still works fine
shut down device
turn it on again
type in password and it takes 2 minutes to load
built in trackpad doesnt work
the log in screen is finally gone but its just the background
i had this problem before and i tried reinstalling but any time i update this happens
( Im not good at troubleshooting)
Unluckily that at the moment that Framework laptop 12 mainboards is not have with APU, NPU.
I wonder if it may be the 16 GB RAM? QubesOS is quite RAM-hungry, and if you have 16 GB you probably need to be careful to not open too many VMs at a time.
I have 48 GB RAM in my Framework 12, that may make a difference.
“look it only needs 8gb ram! 16gb should be good no problem!!!”
i wonder why it only breaks after an update (and shutdown) though
I do know that Framework laptop 12 max capacity of RAM is 64GB.
i saw other ppl use 16gb fine so idk
i didnt open any vms (manually) i just logged in too
Just an idea: Try booting the system with different kernels (right at the beginning, before entering the disk password) you should have a GRUB menu that should let you choose which xen and kernel to boot. Maybe the updated kernel has some incompatibility, and if you boot with an older one it could work.
ill try it
let u know how it goes
did a fresh install, havent updated yet, shutdown and logged in same problems
Have you checked the kernel version used in the installation and the one that loads after the first shutdown? There is a chance they may be different and that could be causing problems.
