The default font size is too small for me to read. I do not want to edit configuration files. The Qubes environment should tell the VMs whatever it needs to about the virtual display so that a reasonable font size is chosen. I am a senior software developer. I thought that Qubes would be a cool platform for hosted various developement operating systems. Maybe all virtualization hosts have this same problem. I don’t know.

It’s one line in /etc/X11/Xresources (Fedora) or
/etc/X11/Xresources/x11-common (Debian)
Xft.dpi: 144
…or whatever your settings is. Unless you are installing things like
the gnome settings daemon, but that’s hardly a Qubes issue and more a
property of the Linux.

I think that’s more an issue of your guest operating systems. How would
Qubes make Linux do this automatically? … or Windows for that matter.
They all require you to set the dpi once somewhere in their settings.

Good for you! How are config files an issue then?

It certainly is.
