Given Firefox’s new controversial TOS, will Qubes be putting out updated versions of of their OS with different browsers? Like LibreWolf or Chromium (or a modified version thereof)?
The recent TOS controversy is a nothing burger:

Given Firefox’s new controversial TOS, will Qubes be putting out updated versions of of their OS with different browsers?
Qubes per se has nothing to do with browsers. Fedora, Debian and Whonix supply the browsers.
I for one, remove all Mozilla products from my templates and switch to applications that support my privacy! Its my personal choice, and simple to research and implement the suitable replacements
Same. I was just curious if Qubes was going to have updated browsers now that Firefox’s security is being brought into question. Change whatever you want in the Template.
Which browser do you recommend using? I’ve been looking at some firefox forks like Zen or LibreWolf, but I’d like to hear the opinion from other people.
Mullvad (non-Tor traffic) and Tor Browser (Tor traffic) for their advanced anti-fingerprinting protection.
Tor-Browser, FireFox with hardened profile (and CanvasBlocker-plugin) and badwolf. Sometimes lynx.
I think LibreWolf is a good drop-in replacement for Firefox. It is basically Firefox, but with all telemetry and privacy invasive functionality removed, and security and privacy related settings changed to more secure defaults.
I hope that because Mozilla keeps undermining privacy more and more in their browser, eventually Linux distributions will abandon Firefox for their own forks, or existing forks like LibreWolf. They are already patching out the worst privacy invasive functionality, as far as I know. SecureBlue have allegedly already made their own fork like that of Chromium, based on the Vanadium patch series. It might become more common, and users might start to prefer the distributions that do that.

Mullvad browser is a great idea but it doesn’t have whonix like tor does. It really makes a huge difference to anonymity. You could run Mullvad browser in whonix and change netvm to sys-vpn instead of sys-whonix but the problem is no one else is doing that and the whole point of mullvad’s anonymity design is anonymity loves company and you will not have company.
Librewolf would be great but the dev has gone crazy and can’t be trusted any more. Sure it’s not proprietary and everyone can verify all the updates and the installation but it’s still a hostile environment with an unreliable dev who is capable of anything. Personally I would prefer a browser where the devs haven’t done anything crazy.
Which browser doesn’t matter so much really because you should be using Tor browser for as much as possible. Then another browser for things where you use your real identity like banking or work.
Sorry to cut the discussion short, but has it has already been mentioned it is the distributions’ role to package firefox and alternatives. If fedora/debian ships alternatives / modified versions, then these will be available. If not, then they will not be available.
I’ll close the topic since it is not Qubes-specific. Feel free to continue the disucssion on distro-specific forums / issue trackers.
