Feature Request: XFCE Touchpad Gestures For Switching Workspaces

I was really surprised by the fact that CTRL + ALT + left/right arrow can switch workspaces in QubesOS 4.2.3. Since most QubesOS users are running laptops with 1080p screen resolution, it might be especially interesting to find a good way to map this shortcut to the three-finger swipe gesture on touchpads. This would allow you to have two full-screen application windows on two virtual workspace and switch between them as easily as GNOME.

As far as I know, such a touchpad gesture is not natively supported by XFCE, and QubesOS has its own overhead in many cases. Has anyone found a solution to make the swipe gesture possible? Would you agree that such a feature is worth pursuing?

Maybe install touchegg in dom0? That is scary…

It would be convenient, but I would not use the feature myself.

Most dependencies for touchégg should be already installed in dom0 and it is packaged in fedora already.

The project has 32 contributors, 173 forks and it exists since a few years, there is little risk to install it in dom0 IMO.

I agree with you. It also has quite a few stars and is also packaged (accepted) by many other distributions. I am currently traveling, but will try it out and keep you updated as soon as I am back in my office with my testing machine.

Happy New Year.
