do pressed keys for dom0 shortcuts go to the focused window

… e.g. Ctrl + Shift + C a common pressed shortcut for copying… will the focused window observe that I held ctrl and shift and C? will it observe that I held ctrl and shift then released them? this can tell focused window VM that I’m using qubes.

The latter. It will see everything but the last key that completes the combination.

You can check for yourself by running the classic xev tool in a VM terminal.

Oh there are much more straightforward ways for the VM to figure that out. Qubes OS does not attempt to hide itself from the VM, which would be very difficult.
