All my Qubes not including dom0 use Debian 13 Trixie.
After an update of all the qubes, I shut the system down without restarting the qubes immediately (this may or may not be the culprit).
On the next day, when I switched on my computer, all of the qubes seem to have more or less delay in operation / execution. Some qubes – I tested the disposable VMs and AppVMs – were extremely slow to respond in any window. For example, typing in those VMs’ terminal may have to wait for 3-10 seconds until characters popping out on the terminal. Opening another window from the same dispVM or AppVM can also be extremely slow, often delayed for more than 10 seconds. I tested apps such as Firefox ESR, Thunar File Manager, and even Mousepad can take extremely long time to open.
TemplateVMs, except disposable templates, seems to be running smoothly. Also, not all disposableVMs are function like being stuck. I have enough luck to get some disposables working smoothly.
Please help with the troubleshooting. The update may or may not be the culprit.
Additional Information (I can test further if needed):
The xentop MEM(k) columns of those VMs are not showing signs of memory starvation.
No spike on CPU when operating on those qubes, at least the xentop’s Domain-0 row shows that.
Tried downgrading the kernel of Qubes (not dom0), increasing CPU allocation, RAM allocation, but nothing seem to be relevant to the issue. Adaptation of those configurations does not change the VM’s issue.
Yes I indeed use fcitx. Thank you. I have indeed found that Qubes without fcitx do not appear lagging. How do they know? Is there any fix or workaround?
