Has anybody else had the issue of “Display” dialog box window opening automatically whenever the computer goes idle? It appears like Qubes thinks a new display is being connected when idle even though that is not the case.
So nobody even tried to help this person for 17 days. No wonder people don’t stick with Qubes and go back to a different operating system.
I probably have the same problem. Only thing is I don’t know if the “Display” dialag appears if my computer is just in idle for a while or when it goes to sleep (I don’t mean suspend), because for some reason my computer goes to sleep fast although I put it to 58 minutes in the display manager, but it goes after 5-10 minutes or so to sleep. But that’s a different bug I guess.
The solution to your problem, @qubesuser123456, could be this (which is what I am testing right now):
And I think that the Qubes OS team should work on fixing this problem, that after some time Qubes thinks, that the same monitor you always had, is somehow a new monitor or a monitor you connected again (although you never disconnected the monitor).
So like I said in my previous post, that I’m also trying the solution I mentioned, and now I can report back, that this solved the problem for me.
Only problem remains, that it is not solving the real problem, that after some time QubesOS thinks, that the same monitor you always had, is somehow a new monitor or a monitor you connected again (although you never disconnected the monitor) and shows you the “Display” dialog again and again. So it’s more like a “cheating solution” instead of a “real” fix.
The QubesOS team should try to fix this, because users in general, but especially new users shouldn’t have to deal with this.
Some additional information: When the “Display” dialog reappears again and again, at least for me, only the refresh rate is not what it should be (it’s lower), but the resolution stays always the same, which could be different for you, because I have a low resolution monitor you could say in comparison to the new monitors out there. And with my eyes alone I can’t check if the refresh rate, which is shown lower in the reappearing “Display” dialog than it should be, really changed or is just shown wrongly in the reappearing “Display” dialog. So I can’t say if this problem is, that only the “Display” dialog reappears again and again with showing the wrong settings while actually keeping the right settings you set some time ago or there is a real change of the display settings to the wrong refresh rate, resolution etc. again and again.
