Discussion on Purism

I don’t think there are any claims against PureOS. Nobody has taken the job to create a template for it, but you can do it yourself. Also, you can install almost any OS in a Qubes VM yourself.

Also, Debian-minimal does not have any blobs.

i understand you’re quite passionate about purism & this topic (as you continue to raise it), but i’m not really interested in continually re-hashing this stuff for you. i think it’s clear to anyone who is not trying to project stuff onto what i’m saying:

  1. trust was broken
  2. we dont partner with them re: certified devices anymore
  3. we get to use the energy & time spent dealing with them elsewhere - same with not re-hashing this topic over & over

i promise to keep an eye on the company’s developments & occasionally ask the team if their feelings have changed.

Its a shame it came down to this, afaik they were one of the only providers of a uC without a built-in flash-able memory (ENE KB3930).

Purism is more of an emitter of unfulfilled claims, although they did just manage to retrack their mobile operating system to Debian Bookworm recently:

Important update:

A major omission is any mention of Qubes OS compatibility and/or PureBoot in contrast to the Librem 14:
