Discuss escalation and IP and identity leaks

After the qubes template is upgraded, whonix-appv (such as Tor browser, chat software) subsequently created based on the template must also be upgraded. If the opened whonix-appvm is using the network, and if sys-net and other appvms that provide the network also need to be upgraded, if whonix-appvm is not turned off, will IP and other information be leaked? Can the corresponding visiting website and chat software obtain our IP and other identity information? Or as long as sys-net starts the upgrade process, as long as the tor network is different, there will be no leakage of IP and other identity information? Do I need to shut down these appvm before upgrading?

Best practice is yes.

Of course, it is the safest way, but sometimes I do open a lot of things and don’t want to close them, but I don’t know if not closing them will expose information.
