Debian 13 templates available for testing

Dear Qubes testers,

Debian 13 templates (including standard, minimal, and Xfce versions) for Qubes OS 4.2 and 4.3 are now available for testing in the qubes-templates-itl-testing repositories for 4.2 and 4.3, respectively. Here’s the associated issue:

Your feedback will be invaluable in helping us determine whether there any bugs that need to be fixed before the stable release of this template. For more information about how to test and provide feedback, please see:

  1. the standardizing fonts issue that got fixed in fedora template releases still is an issue in debian-13-xfce:
  1. the tools for attaching android phones to the computer ( gvfs-backends mtp-tools) are not included in debian-13-xfce, altho they are included in fedora template releases like fedora-42-xfce. would help reduce the need for users needing to search & find guides such as : How to Connect To Android via USB

in general, it would be great to have more robust processes to ensure feature parity between fedora & debian templates - there are probably other examples to the above.

Regretfully this was upstream policy to do not include gvfs-backends and mtp-tools by default on XFCE and their official guides advises them to be manually installed.

But of course, it is possible to add them to Qubes OS meta package.

yeah interesting, i searched & wasn’t able to find any justification for why debian decided not to… strange.

they ship with thunar which loads with an error (displayed in Edit > Display) complaining about the lack of these packages…
