Debian 12 (Minimal) Template Does Not Start Xterm First Time

I’m playing with the debian-12-minimal template and found a problem.

I right click on the template in qube manager and ‘run command in qube’ and enter ‘xterm’ as the command. The qube starts and then I get an error popup: ‘Command ‘xterm’ returned non zero exit status 1’

At this point the qube has started. If I do the same again then xterm starts.

The debian-12 template does the same.

The debian-12-xcfe works fine - xterm starts first time.

Am I doing something wrong or is there a problem with the templates?

Not you, it’s an issue with the templates processing the command as
issued. If you run qvm-run debian-12-minimal xterm it starts first
time.

I never presume to speak for the Qubes team. When I comment in the Forum I speak for myself.

Thanks. There must be something installed in debian-12-xcfe that fixes the problem. I’ll try and find what it is.
