I think it would be worth discussing if dom0 and templates should / could switch to another Desktop Environment.
XORG will be completely dead around 2029 (When redheat drops support, they are the only ones still working on it. I think because of rhel 8?)
I personally have high hopes for the cosmic desktop (currently still in alpha but it’s written in rust!!!)
From what I have heard is that’s it’s really easy to build, almost complety written in rust. It has a professional designer involved in every step and proper tiling! is deeply integrated.
