Hello everyone, please if you can help me with this situation :
When I am installing the OS, it says the error “error checking storage configuration” and " resource to create this format lvmpv is unavailable"
Yes, I already searched and checked the integrity of the ISO with the digest files , hashes, and chechsums different times, with a different USB , and with other Computers I saw that it works in the sense that recognize the partitioning, it just doesn’t with my computer and so I am here for help because I am a noob
Here are my computer Specs: HP 250 GB Notebook PC 11th Gen Intel Core i5-115G7 RAM 16 GB , the USB in which I loaded the installer is 64 gb
any help is really appreciated, since I really want to install this OS !
thank you in advance Any suggestions? I also disabled the Security Boot and I want to use the system for anon and privacy concerns
At what point in the install process does the installer respond like that? – it looks like a message from the Anaconda installer – which of the steps from
Make sure the drive you are installing to is completely wiped before starting installer. Or check the box for doing so in the drive options of installer.
Have you tried the install option that verifies integrity of the installer media (it’s the first option on startup)
That sounds like you have drives behind a hardware RAID controller. If that’s the case, then disabling the Intel Volume Management Device (VMD) in your BIOS should fix this.
If that doesn’t fix it, any chance we can know a little more about your hardware, like how your drive(s) are connected?
Hey Chris, the step is when the Interface in the Qubes OS installer appears and after I select the language english, just at the beginning of the installation, where in the graphical interface I need to select time and date, user name, and indeed Volume Partitioning detection, and is here that makes the errors I said.
Also in this computer it takes 1 hour to boot with strings of code, while in other computers it immediately appears the graphical interface
Yes I wiped the entire hard disk, I think the media is intact , I even bought it one USB new of 64 gb to be sure, it says the media fails only in this computer , in the other computer of others here it doesn’t say it the installer media fails
Hi alzer thank you for the reply in the BIOS Configuration under " Intel RST VMD driver" it says my hard disk is under “Non-RAID Physical Disks” and when I click the Hard Disk in it says : “Status : NON Raid”, then it means is not RAID? . because there is this option as you say in the BIOS for checking this RAID, but then it says such thing, yet it is unmodifiable
Also it doesn’t let me change anything regardless, there is no a button or something to say “on\off” RAID in general
@zulfetekul, can you do me a favour and give this a try:
When you boot the Qubes OS ISO, at the GRUB menu, select the option Install Qubes OS R4.2.x using Kernel Latest, and then press E.
Then, at the end of the line that says kernel......, add a combination of the following kernelopts:
pcie_aspm=force (I think this one should be enough)
intremap=off
nvme_load=1.
My rationale is:
HP, in all their wisdom, make a decision not to give the end user an option to deactivate Intel VMD from their BIOS
So your drives are behind VMD by default, and the booted kernel doesn’t know how to find them
This should tell the Linux kernel what it needs to know to be able to properly interact with your drives
I’m sorry, but I haven’t got any machines with Intel VMD on them to test on, and I wish I could give you the magic bullet you’re looking for. This is a hunch, and it might work…
hey @alzer89 , is in here that I should type " pcie_aspm=force" and the other kernelopts should be put, in this first line? Because this is what I visualize when I press “E” in the selection option you suggested
Also after I type this I press F10, is this the correct procedure, or I need another button? Because if yes, nothing changes . If this is the correct procedure I am going also to add the other 2 strings you suggested
Hey Alzer, see this pic attached if is correct I inserted as you suggested in the “second row” and I pressed F10 to boot
if is correct then I need to say that nothing different happens and it returns still the original situation of the post at the beginning . anyway thanks you
Does anything different happen when you remove the word quiet?
Bear in mind that assuming it will show up on your screen, this will likely display a lot of text. But all of that text is incredibly useful in debugging, so hopefully we get some useful information out of this.
