Can't change dom0 update proxy anymore

Previously I made a vpn qube and I was updating everything through it. Today by an accident I changed it update proxy for dom0 from vpn qube to sys-whonix. If I try to change it back it resets automatically. How to fix this?

I rebooted prior to encountering this issue. When I logged in, the Qubes OS Global Config app was already running. Closing and opening the app fixed the issue

Happy to hear you managed to fix your issue. Do you know if the issue you encountered is consistently reproducible via some combination of steps? If so, creating an issue on the issue tracker would be worthwhile.

Right now I can’t use my github in a safe manner. I will end up banned most likely. But I will see if the steps are reproducable

If GitHub is the uncomfortable part, you can still leave enough detail here for someone else to reproduce/file it: Qubes release, whether the GUI was already open after login, old/new update proxy, exact clicks in Global Config, and whether closing/reopening only the app fixes it every time. That is often enough to tell whether it is a stale GUI state or a qubes-core-admin-client bug.

Qubes release 4.3. GUI already opened after login. The update proxy was changed from sys-whonix as initial install to my vpn Qube. (Currently can’t change it to “defaults” either) The Global Config exact clicks are general > updates > Dom0 proxy Qube > select any other Qube > Apply changes

What helps is closing each Dom0 program, then rebooting the system

There is another issue but I can’t reproduce it. Even after changing the update proxy from sys-whonix to my vpn Qube “successfully” Qubes global config manager shows I am using my vpn Qube. But when I updated the used update proxy wasn’t vpn Qube but sys-whonix

Solution is the same. Close all dom0 programs after changing the upgrade proxy Qube to the desired one and reboot
