Can't access router on local network

I’m trying to connect to a new router for the first time via wi-fi to configure the router. I’ve created a specific qube for this purpose and have selected the default (sys-firewall) NetVM.

I’m able to connect to the router’s wi-fi network and ping the router’s default IP address 192.168.8.1. However I can’t access the router’s admin UI. I first tried to access http://192.168.8.1 on Firefox, which forced it to https. I switched to Brave, which didn’t force to https, however I still can’t connect to the UI.

I am able to connect to the UI from a non-Qubes laptop. Any ideas on why I can’t connect via the Qubes laptop would be appreciated, e.g. is there some proxy setting I’m missing?

I think you can try to use the firefox in sys-net, and then browse to
http://192.168.8.1 or https://192.168.8.1 .

This is a setting in Firefox, “HTTPS-Only Mode”. You can change it (temporarily) by going to the hamburger menu on top-right, then Settings, type “https-only” in the search field and set it to “disabled”. You may also want to whitelist (“add an exception”) for your router’s IP/URL, so that it always uses HTTP.
NOTE that accessing your router admin page with HTTP (unencrypted) over WiFi is not the best way to ensure security.

you could create a router-admin qube, clone the sys-net install a browser and use it only for router-mgmt…
